Incorporating a law degree with a graduate degree in another field is a powerful combination. At Albany Law, we collaborate with other colleges and universities to offer joint degrees in several fields. A joint degree offers greater levels of knowledge and insight, broadens your impact in your field, and can advance your career in many ways.

Alden March Bioethics Institute's Master of Science in Bioethics program is an innovative, personalized, graduate education program in bioethics for those who want to put bioethics to work in their own professional careers. Through a combination of online and on-site courses, law and bioethics students complete a series of courses including empirical bioethics, philosophy and bioethics, clinical ethics and others. Dual-degree students take five core courses online, one online elective, the Albany Law School's Law and Bioethics course, and complete a required master's project course, choosing either a traditional thesis, two publishable journal articles, or a practical project.
Law and bioethics dual-degree students satisfy three master's courses by completing a concentration in Health Law at Albany Law School and may satisfy the Law School's upperclass writing requirement by completing their master's project. Credits from Albany Medical College will not be eligible for transfer back to Albany Law School.
Alden March Bioethics Institute works closely with Albany Law School to create a plan of study that works with both schools' schedules. Alden March Bioethics Institute's M.S. courses are offered fall, winter, spring and summer to allow for flexibility in the completion of the M.S. degree. The Master of Science in Bioethics and the J.D./M.S. Degree programs are registered by the New York State Board of Regents.
