Schaffer Law Library
The intellectual heart of the campus is the Schaffer Law Library. An open, sunlit 53,000 square-foot building located adjacent to the 1928 Building, Schaffer is a prime resource for research and study, offering a collection of more than 620,000 volumes and equivalents, and an extensive array of online research tools. Among the library's special collections is a video archive of nearly 20 years worth of oral arguments before the New York State Court of Appeals. Schaffer also has private rooms for small-group study and seating for 488 library users.

If you can't find a resource you need in the Schaffer Law Library, chances are good you'll be able to get it quickly as a result of our membership in the New England Law Library Consortium, whose 85 members share resources and collaborate on collection building.

Schaffer Law Library's experienced staff is committed to providing quality service to patrons involved in legal research.

The Instructional Technologist researches and recommends the most appropriate combinations of instructional technologies for facilitating the Albany Law educational mission.

Technology
The collegiate-Gothic 1928 Building, which recently underwent an $8 million revitalization, features a fully updated technology infrastructure, a lecture hall and "smart" classrooms equipped for a range of multimedia uses, and two large simulated courtrooms. When it's time for a break from the intensity of a law-school education, the building also houses a gymnasium.

The 1928 Building's newest sibling is the 38,000 square-foot 2000 Building, with technologically advanced classrooms and meeting spaces. The building is home to the Albany Law Clinic, the Government and Science and Technology Law Centers, the Career Center, and other programs.
