ABA Legal Opportunity Scholarship Fund

Eligibility: The Scholarship Fund is intended to encourage racial and ethnic minority students to apply to law school and to provide financial assistance to the scholarship recipients. 
Award: Twenty $5,000 awards annually to each scholarship recipient attending an ABA-accredited law school. Recipients will be selected based on their qualifications for the scholarship and not on the law school they plan to attend.

Eligibility: The fellowship will take place during the fall semester 2010 and will be made available by the grantee organization to a third-year law student enrolled in a law school in New York State or newly graduated law student who has been awarded a degree from a New York State law school. 
Grant Application:  Qualified organizations with the need for matrimonial law fellow are eligible to apply for the grant by October 15, 2009 to receive funding for the 2010 fall semester fellowship. A grant application and grant guidelines are accessible at www.tnybf.org/grantapp.htm.
Award: Grant awards for four fellowships each at $5,000. The 2010 fellowships will take place from September 13 through November 19, 2010.

New York Bar Foundation Real Property Law Section Minority Fellowship
Deadline: October 15, 2009
Eligibility: The fellowship will take place in June 14 - August 6, 2010 and will be available to a minority student enrolled in a law school in New York State during the 2010 spring semester. 
Grant Application:  Public interest legal organizations or charities in the State of New York are eligible to apply for a grant award from the New York Bar Foundation to provide funding to the fellow participating in the organization's fellowship program. 
Award: One grant, valued at $3,333, will be awarded by the New York Bar Foundation to a public interest legal organization or charity that is located on Long Island or in the New York City area including Manhattan, Bronx, Brooklyn, Queens and Staten Island.

New York Bar Association Intellectual Property Law Section Fellowship
Deadline: October 15, 2009
Eligibility: Open to any student enrolled in a law school in New York State and who is capable of fulfilling the requested work hours and responsibilities at the grantee organization. The grantee organization should consider students for the fellowship as follows:The student must be enrolled in a New York State law school during the 2009 fall semester at the 1L or 2L level to participate in the summer 2010 fellowship. The fellowship will take place during summer 2010 for a period of ten weeks from June 7 to August 13, 2010.
Award: Grants, valued at $5,000 each, will be awarded by the New York Bar Foundation to two public interest intellectual property organizations or charities. Grant awards will be announced by January 31, 2010

Oregon Minority Lawyers Association/Oregon State Bar AAP Bar Exam Grants
Deadline: around April 15 and November 15.
Eligibility: Graduating law students/law school graduates who are (1) members of any racial or ethnic minority, (2) have financial need, (3) have a commitment to practice law in Oregon and advance the mission of the Oregon State Bar Affirmative Action Program, and (4) have registered with the Oregon State Bar Affirmative Action Program.
Award: Three grants for February exam, plus six grants for July exam. Grants consist of reimbursement of bar application fee and payment of expenses for bar preparation course focusing on MBE testing.

Thomas F. Black Jr. Memorial Scholarships

Donald W. Banner Corporate Intern Scholarship

Eligibility: Law students who (1) have completed an internship in a corporate intellectual property law department, (2) intend to pursue a career in intellectual property law, and (3) will attend law school in the following calendar year. The IPOEF maintains a list of companies with internship opportunities, but students are responsible for arranging their own internships.

Susan J. Ferrell & Ed Edmondson Scholarships
Deadline: around May 1.
Eligibility: U.S. and Canadian law students demonstrating the need for a scholarship plus an interest in and dedication to Native American legal issues.
Award: The Ferrell Scholarship pays one award of tuition and expenses to attend Sovereignty Symposium in Oklahoma City in late May; up to 100 tuition-only Edmondson Scholarships may be awarded for the Symposium.

Judge Bernard S. Meyer Scholarship 
Deadline: April 1, 2010.
Eligibility: Established in 2004 by the law firm, Meyer, Suozzi, English & Klein, P.C., the scholarship will be awarded to a law school student who excels in legal writing and advocacy skills. An essay that displays excellence in legal writing and advocacy skills must be submitted for consideration of this scholarship. The scholarship is open to all second-year students as of spring 2010 semester enrolled in a law school in the State of New York.
Award: $5,000 applied to the student's tuition for the 2010-11 academic year. The scholarship recipient will be announced no later than May 31, 2010.
