Jill Dunn was appointed Visiting Assistant Professor for Academic Success at Albany Law School in June 2012. Most recently, she founded and operated The Dunn Law Firm PLLC in Albany, where she provided legal and dispute resolution services to individuals and organizations from the Capital Region, New York City and Canada. While engaged in private practice, Professor Dunn provided bar exam coaching and consulting services to individuals preparing to take the New York bar exam. She is a former Assistant Examiner for the New York State Board of Law Examiners, where she wrote New York multiple choice questions, graded New York and MPT essays and reviewed draft questions for comment to the Board to the National Conference of Bar Examiners. Professor Dunn was appointed to the Adjunct Faculty of Albany Law School in 2004 to teach Government and Public Service.
She served as Counsel to Lieutenant Governor Mary Donohue from 1999 to 2002 and was then appointed Deputy Commissioner for Legal Affairs and General Counsel for the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles. Prior to her tenure in government service, she spent several years engaged in civil litigation and white collar criminal defense in private practice in Albany. Professor Dunn was the inaugural recipient of the Hon. Judith S. Kaye Distinguished Attorney Award, bestowed upon her by the Capital District Chapter of the Women’s Bar Association of the State of New York in June 2009. She volunteers her time to professional and civic endeavors, including the Capital District Women’s Bar Association (Past President), the New York State Bar Association (Dispute Resolution Section Executive Committee), the CDWBA Legal Project (Steering Committee) and Albany Law School (Government Law Center Advisory Board, National Alumni Association Board, Career Center). She has lectured for the New York State Bar Association and the American Association of Motor Vehicle Administrators.
