Professor Davis Named Interim Associate Dean for Academic Affairs

Associate Dean and Professor Helane Davis will serve as Albany Law School's interim associate dean for academic affairs for the next academic year, effective July 1, 2011.

As previously announced, current Associate Dean for Academic Affairs Connie Mayer will be serving as interim president and dean during the same period.

Associate Dean Davis is also the director of the Schaffer Law Library. While she is acting as interim associate dean for academic affairs, Robert Emery, the associate director of the Schaffer Law Library, will serve as acting director.

Before joining the Albany Law faculty in 2010, Associate Dean Davis was assistant professor and director of the law library at the University of Kentucky. Prior, she worked for Seattle University's law library from 2002 to 2005, as well as at Howard University's law library from 1999 to 2002. 

Associate Dean Davis started her career as a Westlaw Reference Attorney at West Publishing (now Thomson Reuters Legal) in Minnesota, and worked for West in a variety of roles from 1986 to 1996 before relocating to Gainesville, Fla., and beginning a second career in librarianship.

She earned her B.A. at Northwestern University, her J.D. at the University of Iowa and her M.L.I.S. at the University of Washington.
