Governor Andrew Cuomo recently appointed Linda Cohen '82 as executive director for the New York State Commission on National and Community Service, which is responsible for networking volunteer resources and carrying out civic engagement initiatives throughout the state.
Prior to joining the commission, Cohen served for 12 years as executive director of the New York State Corps Collaboration, where she was responsible for one of the nation's largest AmeriCorps programs. She has also served as executive director of the New York State Dispute Resolution Association, as a contributing writer for Inside Sports Magazine and in various legal positions within all three branches of New York state government.
Cohen is a graduate of Union College; Albany Law School, where she was a classmate of Governor Cuomo; and the National Law Center at George Washington University.
The New York State Commission on National and Community Service was established in 1994 by an executive order of the Governor and administers programs funded by the National Community Service Trust Act of 1993, including AmeriCorps State and AmeriCorps Education Awards programs.
