The Albany Law School Moot Court Program proudly invites you to participate as a judge for its various competitions.
Those who volunteer their time are eligible for CLE credit, with CLE forms available to be filled out at each competition.
Students compete in the following competitions on a variety of subject matters.
Spring Competitions:
-Karen C. McGovern Senior Prize Trials Competition - This competition is open to third-year students and provides seniors with an outstanding opportunity to develop trial practice skills. The spring semester highlights the elimination rounds of this competition which is devoted to a criminal case. -Donna Jo Morse Negotiations Competition - The goal of this competition is to provide Albany Law School second- and third-year students with an educational opportunity to develop the fundamental negotiating skills necessary to practice law both competently and professionally. -Domenick L. Gabrielli National Family Law Competition - This national competition is hosted by Albany Law School and open to the first 24 teams from around the country. The problem focuses on current issues in the field of family law which offers challenging oral arguments and competition. Albany Law School students do not compete in this competition. The competition is usually held the last week of February/first week of March.

The fall semester problem is devoted to a civil issue, while the spring semester problem focuses on a criminal issue. -Donna Jo Morse Client Counseling Competition - This competition promotes greater knowledge and interest among Albany Law School second- and third-year students in the client counseling aspect of law practice. Each round simulates a law office consultation in which law students are presented with a client problem and must advise the client. -Domenick L. Gabrielli Appellate Advocacy Competition - This competition is only open to Albany Law second-year students allowing them to practice appellate oral advocacy and legal writing skills.
