Bridging the Gap Mentoring Program

Bridging the Gap Mentoring Program

Bridging the Gap, an initiative of Albany Law School’s National Alumni Association, Graduates of the Last Decade (GOLD) and the Office of Alumni Affairs, pairs graduating 3Ls with an alumni mentor.

The National Alumni Association, Graduates of the Last Decade (GOLD) and the Office of Alumni Affairs are excited to invite you to be a mentor for the Bridging the Gap (BTG) Mentoring Program

ABOUT THE MENTORING PROGRAM

BTG assists third-year students by matching them one-on-one with alumni mentors who provide general advice on the post-graduation landscape covering everything from job search and interviewing tips to Bar exam prep, making introductions for graduates moving to a new location for work, and general advice for new attorneys

Once matched, mentors and students are free to communicate informally via e-mail, telephone, and/or in person.  Some mentors and students communicate exclusively by e-mail or phone; others meet at offices, grab coffee, attend court proceedings, and even attend networking and social events together.

SEEKING MENTORS

We are seeking Alumni from all geographic regions and practice areas (including non-legal practice) to participate in this program.  As a mentor, you are not only able to provide advice about the post law school experience, but your involvement demonstrates the strong network of Albany Law School alumni.

We ask that mentors make a yearlong commitment to the program.

HOW TO SIGN UP

We hope that you will consider being a part of this worthwhile and rewarding program. If you are interested in mentoring, simply complete the form online: on the Career Center’s Professional Network by logging into your Career Services Manager (CSM) account

Sign up takes 5 minutes. If you do not have a CSM account, please click here and complete the employer registration form.  You will receive a username and password to your CSM account, and you can then login and select the “PROFESSIONAL NETWORK” link to complete your information.

If you have any issues registering on the CSM Professional Network, please contact Emily Harrison, Assistant Director for Student & Recent Graduate Relations at eharr@albanylaw.edu or (518) 472-5874.

The Professional Network, an Albany Law online community, allows students to connect with Alumni mentors who share professional interests and goals. We’ll be using this platform to recruit interested mentors. The Professional Network is a new platform that will allow alumni to sign up ONCE for all mentoring opportunities.

For questions about the program, please contact the Office of Alumni Affairs at 518-445-3220 or alumni@albanylaw.edu.
