Mr. Fernandez served as Executive Vice President, Secretary and General Counsel for The Home Depot, Inc. from 2001-2007, where he provided legal counsel for the company's CEO and Board of Directors while also establishing corporate governance guidelines and a company-wide corporate compliance program. While overseeing a 75-attorney legal department, Mr. Fernandez also led 48 mergers and acquisitions worth more than $8 billion.
Prior to joining Home Depot, Mr. Fernandez was Managing Partner of Fernandez Burstein Tuczinski & Collura in Albany from 1986-2001. Prior to attending Albany Law School, he was a Certified Public Accountant at Deloitte, Haskins and Sells in New York City. He served as the Director of the Masters Program in Taxation at the University at Albany from 1999-2001.
Mr. Fernandez received Albany Law School's Distinguished Alumni Award in 2005, and he was Alumnus in Residence in 2004. He was also a member of the Dean's Strategic Planning Council. Mr. Fernandez earned a B.B.A. from St. Bonaventure University and an LL.M. in Taxation from New York University School of Law.
