State officials, attorneys, advocates, and provider agency executives will examine the history and impact of the landmark Willowbrook case at Albany Law School on March 22, 2013, from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Forty years ago, the Willowbrook case challenged the constitutionality of the care of individuals residing at the center and sought their protection from harm. The resulting litigation established a standard of care that led to significant reforms in the system of delivering services to individuals with disabilities in New York and elsewhere.
