Albany Law School will host teams of law students from around the northeast for the American Bar Association (ABA) Law Student Division Region 2 Negotiation Competition on Nov. 12 and 13, 2011. Law schools competing in the competition include:
The competition is intended to promote greater interest among law students in legal negotiations and provides a means for them to practice and improve their negotiating skills. Students simulate legal negotiations by acting as lawyers and operating in teams of two to negotiate opposing interest in a series of legal problems, which consist of both a common set of facts known by all participants and confidential information known only to the participants representing a particular side. Practicing attorneys, including many Albany Law alumni, will serve as judges and grade participants based upon legal analysis, poise, creativity, communication and negotiation skills. The teams receiving the highest scores on Saturday, Nov. 12, will advance to the final round on Sunday, Nov. 13, and the winning team will advance to the national competition.
