The New York State Department of Public Service will hold an Overview Forum on July 19-20, 2007 at Albany Law School regarding the recently announced Energy Efficiency Portfolio Standard initiative. The Overview Forum is co-sponsored by the Government Law Center of Albany Law School.

Opening remarks will be delivered by Dr. Robert Socolow, professor at Princeton University and co-director of Princeton's Carbon Mitigation Initiative, and co-author of the landmark study identifying stabilization wedges as an approach to greenhouse gas emission mitigation.

Other speakers include:

• David D. Brown, IV, Executive Director, New York State Dormitory Authority;
• Paul A. Tonko, President and CEO of the New York State Research and Development Authority; and
• representatives of utilities and energy service companies.

Specific topics to be discussed at the Overview Forum include:

• the potential for energy efficiency in New York State;
• energy efficiency programs in California, New York City and across the Northeast;
• present and future approaches to energy efficiency; low-income and environmental justice concerns;
• business and technology programs, products and solutions; and
• energy efficiency challenges.

The Overview Forum will be moderated by the Public Service Commission's Administrative Law Judge Eleanor Stein, who is presiding over the Energy Efficiency Portfolio Standard proceeding.
