Albany Law School will delay opening until 11am due to the weather.
The Albany Law School community is saddened by the loss of
Professor Emeritus Peter Preiser, longtime faculty member and friend to many.
Professor Preiser, a graduate of New York University and its
School of Law, taught at Albany Law School from 1977 until his retirement in 2010.
Previously he practiced civil and criminal law, served New York State as
Commissioner of Correctional Services, Deputy State Administrator of the New
York Court System, Director of Probation, and Director of Office of Crime
Control Planning, and was Assistant District Attorney for New York County. He
authored annual commentaries on criminal procedure, served as a criminal
justice consultant to state and national committees, and was a member of the
American Law Institute and the Advisory Committee on Criminal Law and Procedure
for the New York State Judicial Conference.
His daughter Cynthia is a member
of Albany Law’s Class of 1989, and his son Alexander is a member of the Albany
Law Class of 1993.
Albany Law School sends its condolences to the Preiser
family and Professor Preiser’s colleagues and friends.
