Equality of Women Subject of International Human Rights Conference

Legal scholars, government officials, human rights advocates and others will gather at Albany Law School for "Human Rights, Gender and the Law: The State of Equality in Comparative Perspective" on Thursday, April 11, and Friday, April 12, 2013.

The conference, part of the Spring 2013 Kate Stoneman Series of Events, will include dialogue on the following topics:

Law and the Issue of "Culture"
Women and Governance
Violence Against Women
Women and Health
Feminist Contributions to U.S. Law
Feminist Approaches to International Law

The conference is dedicated in memory of Professor Katheryn D. Katz '70, who was named the first Kate Stoneman Chair in Law and Democracy in 2007. Katherine "Kate" Stoneman was the first woman admitted to practice law in New York state, and the first female graduate of Albany Law School.
