Albany Law School students provided more than 2,000 pro bono service hours during the 2012-2013 school year. They were honored at the 4th Annual Pro Bono Society Reception, held in the gym at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 9, 2013.
Lisa Frisch, executive director of The Legal Project, delivered a keynote speech, and several community partners and members of the law school faculty were recognized for their efforts. Eleven students were recognized for logging at least 75 hours of pro bono service prior to graduation, and 24 were recognized for completing at least 30 hours of qualifying service during the most recent academic year.
Benjamin Pomerance '13 earned the Pro Bono Student of the Year designation for amassing more than 500 pro bono hours during his time at Albany Law, more than any other student in his class. The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Project was also recognized for serving the most clients.
Other pro bono projects at the law school include the Veterans' Rights Project, the Anti-Human Trafficking Legal Project, the Matrimonial & Family Law Project and several others.
