In honor of Veterans Day, Albany Law School’s Veterans’ Rights Pro Bono Project will host another free Legal Services Day for veterans on Nov. 10, 2012, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Albany Law School.

Attorneys will be on hand to meet with veterans free of charge in one-on-one appointments. Areas in which legal services and advice will be available include:

Drafting and executing Wills, Health Care Proxies, and Powers of Attorney
     VA Benefits applications and appeals
     Matrimonial and Family Law questions
     Bankruptcy matters
     Tax concerns
     Lost or incorrect Military Documents
     Property matters
     And other legal issues

In addition, representatives from a number of organizations which provide services to veterans will be present, including delegates of the New York State Division of Labor, the New York State Division of Veterans’ Affairs, and the Albany County Bureau of Veterans Services, as well as other groups.

Any veteran is welcome to take part in this day free of charge.

For one-on-one appointments with the attorneys, reservations are strongly advised, as slots tend to book up quickly. To make a reservation to meet with an attorney, call and leave a message at 518-445-2365 or 518-593-4102, or send an email to bpomerance@albanylaw.edu.

This marks the fourth free legal services day that the Veterans’ Rights Pro Bono Project has hosted in 2012. The project, which was founded in the fall of 2011, also works with the Legal Aid Society of Northeastern New York in periodic free legal clinics at the Stratton VA Hospital and in providing services to veterans through the Albany Housing Coalition.
