Annual event celebrates achievement by women in the legal field

Albany Law School is now seeking nominations for its annual Kate Stoneman Awards, conferred to individuals who seek change and expand opportunities for women in the legal profession, including encouraging women to pursue legal careers and opening doors that have historically been closed to women attorneys.

Nomination forms are available online.

The deadline for nominations is Jan. 11, 2013. For more information, contact Kristin Sheehan at 518-445-3361 or kshee@albanylaw.edu.

Award recipients will be recognized at the 19th Annual Kate Stoneman Day celebration, to be held April 10, 2013, at Albany Law School. Kate Stoneman Day will be part of a series of related events in March and April next year; details are forthcoming.

The awards are presented in honor of Kate Stoneman, the first woman admitted to practice law in New York state and the first female graduate of Albany Law School in 1898. Previous winners span a variety of public and private practitioners, judges and law professors.
