The Albany Law School community is deeply saddened by the passing away of John DeMatteo, beloved maintenance superintendant at the law school for more than 34 years.

Affectionately referred to as "Dad" by both his crew members and students throughout the years, the law school gymnasium was dedicated in his name in 1989, known ever since as the DeMatteo Gymnasium.

DeMatteo served in the Army during the Korean War and was awarded the Bronze Star three times.

Memorial donations may be made in John's memory to Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church or to the Albany Law School.
