Albany Law Listed 88th of 180 in New Ranking

Albany Law School ranked 88 th among 180 law schools in the recently released Super Lawyers U.S. Law School Rankings . The list is based on an analysis of the top five percent of attorneys in the country and the schools from which they graduated.

Published by Law & Politics, Super Lawyers is an annual jurisdictional listing of outstanding lawyers from more than 70 areas of practice. Only five percent of the lawyers from any state or region are included each year after a rigorous multiphase selection process that considers both peer recognition and professional achievement.

"The impressive accomplishments of our alumni have always been a source of great pride for the law school," said Albany Law School Dean Thomas Guernsey. "Performing so well in a ranking system based on the country's top lawyers strengthens our pride and serves as a testament to the success of our graduates."

To compile its first-ever Law School Rankings list, Super Lawyers considered the total number of graduates named to state and regional Super Lawyers lists in 2009 and ranked law schools based strictly on the quantity of quality lawyers that they have produced.

According to a blog post by Bill White, the publisher of Super Lawyers and Law & Politics, "We take a snapshot of the top lawyers in the country and ask, 'What schools produced these lawyers?' Then we report the results. Our rankings fill an informational gap. It throws a new and unique indicator of quality into the mix. It's another data point for students to consider..."
