Ryan V. Horstmyer '08

On March 12, 2007, Albany Law School student Ryan V. Horstmyer '08 was appointed to the 25th Legislative District in the Albany County Legislature.

Horstmyer, a 24-year-old Democrat from Loudonville, N.Y., has been active in local politics since he was a teenager. Horstmyer was a candidate for the Colonie Town Board in 2001 and is currently the second vice chairman of the town Democratic Committee. He interns for state Supreme Court Justice Eugene "Gus" Devine. Horstmyer was appointed to the County position in a 27-9 vote.  He has said that he will run for the 25th District again when the seat is up for re-election in November.
